Let’s start with the numbers game,

1. If you want a good CGPA, the first year is the best time. If you got 80% in 12th, don’t try to get the same.. compare college with college.

2. Read books 📚. Don’t neglect them, read for few hours what was taught in the class. Even, better go to library and read related topics.

3. Learn to code/write/create. Anything that has a replication factor.

4. The easiest place and time to make friends is in college. For starters, smile and say “Hi”. It worked for me. Acquaintances are also as important, people who you meet at sports, library, events..

5. Internships are great. One or two internships are sufficient, so focus on getting a good job not unpaid internships.

6. Be friendly, and a bit helpful.

7. Have time for yourself, that is, allot some time for reflecting on your goals, outlook, friends, and emotions.

8. Colleges only care till you write exams, so think beyond exams. The concepts you read are the starting point for your professional career.

9. It would be great to have mentors. Here’s a quote, “to ask for butter, earn a bread”. So, first work on things that you care about, code, open source, social cause, startup, or research projects. Naturally, you will find mentors.

10. If you don’t learn money, college won’t help you that much.

11. Join a club or two. But, make sure to draw boundaries. Academics come first. Once, that settled you get plenty of time to build the things you want.
